A Sucker Near Bear Bluff??!!

In the morning hours I headed out near bear bluff again to fish in 40 to 100 feet of water for coho salmon. Here’s a couple of sun-rise shots. Almost right away, I hooked into a 3.5 lb coho and thought I’d get a few more, but only one more hit came from a sucker, of all things. He was about 60 feet down and hit on a spoon! I thought I was pulling in a lake trout, since he did not fight like a salmon. After I knifed his gills and cut off some belly fat for future bait,  I let him go back to the bottom to become food for other fish.

After a while, I was heading 2.5 miles out to a lake trout spot, but turned in instead because the wind was picking up. The past couple days have been windy, but hope to get out tomorrow… anyone want to join me?
