Fishing and cruising Lake Superior in the Keweenaw

It’s been quite a while since I wrote on this fishing blog because I have been out on the water so much. That’s what I’d rather be doing anyway… (typing on this contraption isn’t my most favorite past-time).
Charters have been so busy that I haven’t even had time to go pleasure fishing on an active scum-line. This past Tuesday, I thought I’d find the scum line out at Manitou Island since I had a party that wanted to spend several hours on the island while I fished with some locals. As it turned out, the fog was too thick to comfortably fish out there, being right in the shipping lanes. We trolled around the island for lake trout and salmon and only caught one coho.
Other local trips in Bete Grise (our local bay in Lake Superior) have been mostly productive with many lake trout, a few steel-head and some coho salmon. I’ve never had so many charters in one week, with many doubles in a day and very few bad weather days. There’s been a doctor, government accountant, nurses, college students, computer science specialists, many retires, some locals, and many from across the map that come here for the pleasure of fishing and sightseeing.
