Fishing near South Entry

After sleeping in for an extra 39 minutes yesterday morning because I forgot to set my alarm, Joe, Bob and I set out to South Entry to see if the Coho were in. Wow, I could not believe it! I NEVER sleep in when it’s time to go fishing, I don’t care how early in the AM it is. I’m like a kid the night before Christmas….

We got on the water by 7:15 anyway and saw lots of fish on the sonar, but no bites near the south entry light. Saw a fish surface near the light though. After a couple hours of nothing, we ventured out into the deep water for lake trout. Saw lots of bait fish and some larger fish hanging around, so we trolled for few hours and caught 7 lakes, one too small to keep, others nice size for eating.

We were a little handicapped with only one downrigger, other had wiring problems, so we trolled on the bottom with one rigger and 2 deep diver dypsies with braided line. Wish I would have brought the wire dypsies, but I did not anticipate fishing deep.

Fish were caught on a variety of spoons, but did not seem to like the herring dodger and fly combo’s. Trolled at 1.7 to 2 mph.

A couple of days before, we fished the same place and caught 7 lakers then too! Had some picts on my iphone, but lost them when trying to sync with computer.
