Jim’s gang after the first day of fishing.

Brian – most appreciation from our entire family of fishers for the fine service and great experience. Max’s 8 pounder was exciting, but so was every smaller fish!  You are a quality guy. Jack ain’t bad, either! Best regards to you and family

fish caught with sand point chartersThank you! We loved our trip – more importantly, the groom loved the trip!

Back in the heat of Texas now, though :(  Missing that cool breeze off the top of Lake Superior.

lake trout caught with captain brian of sand point charters

Bob’s son with a nice Lake Trout. He later caught a small mouth bass in Lac La Belle.

Thanks so much for your time on Friday with my family giving them a great fishing experience.  In my job role I work very closely with our safety department so I was very impressed with your safety orientation and explanation of all the safety features on the boat.

10 fish caught at Stannard Rock, lake superior

Tim and Sharon with their limit of 10 fish for the day from Stannard Rock

Hi Brian! We had such a great time fishing last summer! Tim and I are looking ahead at our schedule and hoping to be able to book another trip with you! Sharon and I had one of the best times we have had for awhile. I shipped 30lbs of lake trout home and though they were frozen everyone had enjoyed some fantastic lake Superior lake trout. We have recommended your service to anyone who has been interested.

Pat and Rob with their catch

Just wanted to let you know I drove back a day early to use my day off to smoke the fish. I used a pickling spice brine overnight, let dry, and smoked at 180 deg. for 7 hours. An old captain in Grand Haven suggested a light brush of maple syrup just before done. The fish was fantastic! I can’t wait to share at work.

fishing picture of dan langford on the boat with sand point chartersWow!  What a way to celebrate my birthday! Couldn’t ask for better weather or a better fishing experience out at Stannard Rock. Not only did I catch the fish of a lifetime with that thirty-pound Laker, but diving off the boat at the lighthouse was the icing on the cake. Your pleasant personality, knowledge of the sport and the surrounding area, and many fish stories all helped to make the trip enjoyable – oh and I don’t want to forget the delicious smoked Lake Trout snack.

“Thanks Brian – for a great day of late September lake trout fishing.  If you ordered the weather it could not have been better. Sunny skies and calm winds made for some comfortable time on the water.  The Fishin’ Mission is a great boat to get out on Superior in and the lake trout were biting pretty good with several over 6 pounds.  Mike was delighted with the catch – for him a first!

If you want an enjoyable fishing trip with a great guy, give Sand Point Charters a call and schedule some time with Captain Brian!  Thanks again from both of us!”

Last Fishing day on Bete Grise for the year

2 of my kids took a day off of school on Friday to “work” with me on the water… explore new areas and look for spawning lakers. We launched under a light rain at 9 am, but the forecast was for nice weather for the day and by the time we dropped lines, it was […]

Fishing Up-date, last 2 days fishing with the 19 foot Harbercraft

Got a slow start on Wednesday morning and finally got on the waters of Bete Grise with the Harbercraft with a party of 3. Steve, Nat and Janice, from Washington state had a small window of opportunity to fish and called me on Tuesday and we were able to go out on Wednesday with decent […]

Itching to fish, visited Menahga, Mn instead

Got a call from Urho on Thursday with an invite to go to Isle Royale for a weekend of fishing the best waters on the lake, but I passed it up. Sometimes NORMAL life plans get in the way and I have to spend time with the family. Instead our family spent last weekend in […]

Smoking Lake Trout, Coho Salmon and Steelhead

Taking a day off to smoke some fish. My smoker is a propane fired, 4 rack box with a small chip box to create smoke from apple chunks. You can see the wood pieces on the top. I use only one slice of wood, or only enough to fill the small chip box once, to […]

Final trip of the season on Fishin’ Mission – Still chartering Harbercraft

Last Sunday afternoon we cruised from Copper Harbor out to Manitou Island to see the Manitou light and Gull Rock with a crew from California. I had the Fishin’ Mission moored at the Township dock for a few days since we had fished at Horseshoe Harbor a few days before, so on this trip we […]

Fishing near Horseshoe Harbor, Copper Harbor

This past Wednesday was too windy to fish in Bete Grise and most of the lakers have moved out, so we went around the point to fish the north shore instead. The ride out started in Lac La Belle as very calm… it was like glass and we were the only ones disturbing the surface. […]

Up Date, fishing in Bete Grise, Agate Falls and O Kun De Kun Falls

Last week, Evelyn, my 25 year old daughter and I fished for lake trout in Bete Grise for a few hours and came back with a nice 9 pounder (which I did not get a picture of) and the 3 pound laker that she is holding. There’s a story behind the larger fish… I set […]

Stream fishing in Ottawa National Forest

Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, our family took a ride to Agate Falls and Bond Falls down in Ontonagan county in the Ottawa National Forest. Exploratory fishing and fishing for pleasure

Yesterday, neighbor Kurt and I pushed off of the dock at Lac La Belle at 9 am for a full day of relaxing aboard the “Fishin Mission.” I had tried, un-successfully to get more guys to go, but they all had some kind of excuse…”…have to work,” “wife is on call,” or whatever else keeps […]

Fishing Up-date out of Lac la Belle in Lake Superior

Lots of wind is causing delays and cancellations of fishing plans and stirring up the waters. Last Thursday, I brought out a dad and son from South Eastern Mn who were here trying un-successfully to fish the local streams for brookies. I guess they’d have to talk to Jim Juntilla to find out where to […]
