Jim’s gang after the first day of fishing.

Brian – most appreciation from our entire family of fishers for the fine service and great experience. Max’s 8 pounder was exciting, but so was every smaller fish!  You are a quality guy. Jack ain’t bad, either! Best regards to you and family

fish caught with sand point chartersThank you! We loved our trip – more importantly, the groom loved the trip!

Back in the heat of Texas now, though :(  Missing that cool breeze off the top of Lake Superior.

Bob’s son with a nice Lake Trout. He later caught a small mouth bass in Lac La Belle.

Thanks so much for your time on Friday with my family giving them a great fishing experience.  In my job role I work very closely with our safety department so I was very impressed with your safety orientation and explanation of all the safety features on the boat.

10 fish caught at Stannard Rock, lake superior

Tim and Sharon with their limit of 10 fish for the day from Stannard Rock

Hi Brian! We had such a great time fishing last summer! Tim and I are looking ahead at our schedule and hoping to be able to book another trip with you! Sharon and I had one of the best times we have had for awhile. I shipped 30lbs of lake trout home and though they were frozen everyone had enjoyed some fantastic lake Superior lake trout. We have recommended your service to anyone who has been interested.

Pat and Rob with their catch

Just wanted to let you know I drove back a day early to use my day off to smoke the fish. I used a pickling spice brine overnight, let dry, and smoked at 180 deg. for 7 hours. An old captain in Grand Haven suggested a light brush of maple syrup just before done. The fish was fantastic! I can’t wait to share at work.

fishing picture of dan langford on the boat with sand point chartersWow!  What a way to celebrate my birthday! Couldn’t ask for better weather or a better fishing experience out at Stannard Rock. Not only did I catch the fish of a lifetime with that thirty-pound Laker, but diving off the boat at the lighthouse was the icing on the cake. Your pleasant personality, knowledge of the sport and the surrounding area, and many fish stories all helped to make the trip enjoyable – oh and I don’t want to forget the delicious smoked Lake Trout snack.

“Thanks Brian – for a great day of late September lake trout fishing.  If you ordered the weather it could not have been better. Sunny skies and calm winds made for some comfortable time on the water.  The Fishin’ Mission is a great boat to get out on Superior in and the lake trout were biting pretty good with several over 6 pounds.  Mike was delighted with the catch – for him a first!

If you want an enjoyable fishing trip with a great guy, give Sand Point Charters a call and schedule some time with Captain Brian!  Thanks again from both of us!”

Last 2 Fishing trips Including Windy fishing day on Bete Grise for Lake Trout and Coho

On Sunday, some of my older kids and their girl friends, along with my mother and wife’s mother went for a ride to Manitou Island for the afternoon. Surprisingly, at least to me, nobody wanted to fish, but fishing was part of my mission for the day. I was prepared to fish myself, but My […]

Stannard Rock Sightseeing and Fishing the “Hot spot”

The two most recent trips were last Thursday and Friday…Yesterday was too windy to get out. Thursdays trip was only supposed to be out to Manitou, but it was so nice and flat on the water, and my crew wanted to see the “Rock” so we decided on the “spur of the moment” to go […]

Fishing Lac La Belle for Crappy – Too rough on Lake Superior

Yesterday afternoon, we spent a couple hours fishing on Lac La Belle with 2 grandparents and grandson because it was too windy to fish effectively on Lake Superior. We tried near shore in Bete Grise for a short time, but the water temperatures have not cooled enough yet. I had watched the data buoys west […]

Saturday night and Sunday afternoon Lake Trout out of Copper Harbor

Fished with Terry and his son-in-law on Saturday night near Horshoe Harbor near Copper Harbor. We could see some nice thermoclines on the sonar at about 140 feet below surface, so we fished below that. 3 Lakers in a couple hours of “rough seas” fishing was not bad. Mark, the son-in-law caught the first […]

Fishing summary out of Copper Harbor for lake trout and coho salmon

Wednesday morning I was supposed to have a charter in Bete Grise, but the weather was not good, so we re-scheduled it for Thursday morning. Since I had several charters to do out of Copper Harbor later that day and Friday, I offered to bring them around the point and fish along the way. Fishing […]

Lighthouse sightseeing trip to Huron Island, Granite Island and Stannard Rock

I had several charters to see lighthouses, some with serious lighthouse enthusiasts and some casual tourists who just wanted to see the local sights. One was a 135 mile trip that I wrote a little about before, but I did not have a chance to post pictures until now, on this rainy morning. Mitch and […]

Past 2 Days of fishing on Lake Superior for Coho and Lake Trout

Yesterday we fished with a family of 4 from Traverse City and had a nice day on the water, with very flat seas. The weather was warm and sunny and although we fished for several hours, we only managed to boat 2 small lake trout. My strategy was to go directly to one of my […]

Trolling for lake trout on Lake Superior on 8/7/10 With Brighton Couple and Seattle Man

Departed at 8 am this morning with 3 “Golden Years” folks with the sun shining and fairly calm waters. Had a little chill in the air and heavy dew, but the forecast was good. Fished out from Bare Bluff for a while with no action, but when we hauled in to move, we picked up […]

Sightseeing with a little trolling for lakers mixed in near Keweenaw Point

A couple of windy days kept us off of the water, but early today, trolled in close for Coho but had no luck. The boys wanted to try their “hot spot” in the channel, so we stopped therefor 20 minutes and they caught several rock bass. (I hope they remembered to empty them out when […]

Stannard Rock Fishing for trophy Lake Trout – Spur of the Moment Trip

This morning we met at 5:30 am at the Lac la Belle launch dock with the intent to fish in Bete Grise for lake trout, coho, steelhead and/or king salmon (chinook). As we left motored out to my favorite spot, I mentioned, on a whim, that we could fish at Stannard Rock for the day […]
