Here is the old (small) boat behind Calvin and I… Had a hard time waking the boys this morning, but Calvin finally got up and Stanley slept in.
As we were motoring out to the fishing area,(just 1/4 mile out of the irons) I noticed a scum line in the water with a 2.5 degree temperature change, with colder water near the shore and warmer water as we moved away from shore. Since we were not in a hurry to get out deep, and our intention was to fish, I stopped and dropped some lines, circled back through the scum and picked up up a nice Coho Salmon. A couple more passes and nothing more.
We then explored new fishing areas and picked up 2 lakers, one 2.5 lbs and the other about 6 lbs.
Got a little bumpy around noon, but still very fishable. Calvin took an hour nap while I fished in the rain. Not much actin though with an EAST wind.
It was fun to fish on the old boat… only the 2nd time for the summer. Saved money on gas too, but wished had the electric downriggers on it. Cranking those manuals is hard work, but it was the only exercise I got all day, so it’s not all bad.
