Well, we are almost through August and this last 1/2 of the month in the Keweenaw has been a little rough on Lake Superior, which is usual for this time of year. We have averaged 7 fish per trip in the last 2 weeks, which is about 1.5 fish per hour… not great, but still pretty good fishing and I expect it to get better as we go into the fall – as long as we can get out of Lac La Belle. There is more wind in the forecast, so we’ll see.
Of the 75 fish boated recently, 10 were salmon and the rest lake trout. Average size lake trout has been around 4.5 lbs, not counting a 30 lb trout from Stannard Rock and an 18 from Bete Grise, and a couple of steel head.
