Summertime fun on Lac La Belle and Lake Superior

Almost a month has gone by since my last post because it’s been a whirlwind of (mostly) fishing (for lake trout), (some) sightseeing (Gull rock and Manitou Lighthouse) and general summer activities. Times fun when you’re having flies… I mean times fun when you’re having fish… I mean… oh, forget it. Suffice it to say we are setting new records for numbers of fishing charters in Superior and lake trout catch rates. Some salmon and steel head, but mostly lake trout. With 9 off-days in July, (I fished about 1/2 of them alone or with family or friends) I did 30 charters on the other 22 days, so you can imagine lots of double charter days. I’m not sure who to thank for the awesome lake trout fishery that we have in our part of Lake Superior, but it sure is keeping me and my clients happy.

It’s been fun to see and hear about the varied careers and backgrounds of the people who find me here, tucked away in the Keweenaw Peninsula, or “Copper Country” as some call it. Pilots, apple growers, nurses, teachers, hand surgeon, triathlon athletes, physical therapists, prison guards, insurance salesmen and a cheese manufacturing worker. I’ll have to do some more traveling on the off season to visit some of these people and get some plant tours… especially the apple packing plant and cheese factory.

Here are some of my pictures to show a re-cap of some or our fun:
