Up-coming Season and Poem – Almost Lost Prize

0 Flares 0 Flares ×

I’ve had a great winter aboard my Yooper Too (32 foot Nordic Tug trawler) and soon getting back to fishing here at home. Can’t wait to launch the boats and get out there! There’s a little work to do before we launch, in fact there’s still ice on Lac La Belle

Here’s my most memorable trip from last summer:

Clients coming
From far and wide,
Catching lake trout and salmon
With me as their guide.

An 8 year old boy
Caught a big king,
Took a few pictures
To me he did bring.

I slipped on the deck
And fell through the door,
The fish in the water
I could see him no more.

Feelings of loss
Flashed through my head,
As my ankle was grabbed
Easing my dread.

Then there was the fish
Back in my grasp,
My body inverted
But the urgency past.

Pain in my shins
From falling down,
Arms in the water
I looked like a clown.

I twisted and turned
Chad holding my ankle,
I Gave him the prize
For him I was thankful.

With details left out
There’s more to this story,
You’ll have to come fishing
To hear the finale!
