Isle Royal and the Mouth of the Montreal River

Last week, Calvin and I fished for the afternoon at the mouth of the Montreal River and caught a bunch of brook trout and he also caught 2 browns that he released. We released 1/2 and kept 1/2 of the fish caught and had a nice dinner later and gave a couple to  Gramma Tilla.

Spent the weekend at  Isle Royal with 5 of my boys and a few other boater friends and relies. Bro Mitch and Davin were there along with Bill D., Ramo, Denny, Urho and crew and Bill’s 2 boys, Will and Scott and Lance L.

We crosssed on really flat water on Friday and had good calm water on Saturday, but Sunday morning the wind was picking up, so we left early in choppy water.

Margaret and the 2 younger girls went to Chicago for a printing show that I had to miss in order to go to the Island.

Son Bruce was the most successful fisherman on this trip with 3 of 4 lakers caught on Saturday morning. The flats were the most productive, but all small fish there. I wish I could have trolled some, but the kids were “hooked” on bobbing and had no desire or time to troll. Besides they had enough trolling this summer on Bete Grise.
By the way, my boat is now in Eagle Harbor and I need to get it back to Lac la Belle, so I am offering a $100 disccount on a trip around the Keweenaw Point for fishing and/or sightseeing. You and your party would be able to see 5 lighthouses or fish near Manitou Island at a great, late season rate. Call me for details!
