I spent 4 out of the last 5 days on the water fishing with an IT man, a nurse, some MTU students, a 3M Engineer, some kids… a mixture of people from thither and yon… in other words, all over the map.
We’ve had lots of fish boated, lots lost to in-experience and much fun trolling for lake trout in this beautiful Keweenaw’s Copper Country. Almost 40 fish caught… mostly lake trout.
I have to make myself pause and step back in order to “smell the roses” sometimes. My tendency is to take things for granted and I recently realized it when a client commented on the awesome scenery that I “…have to put up with each morning as I walk out on my dock.” It is truly a wonderful sight to see the hills and cliffs from the water while enjoying the boat rides and fishing for salmon and lake trout.
My focus is always on these 3 things (not necessarily in this order):
1. Making sure my clients have a good time.
2. Catching fish.
3. The safety of everyone on my boat.
Because of this focus, I forget to appreciate the other things, so thanks for the reminder!
