A Good Day on Lake Superior (ANY day on the water is a good day)

First, I had said I’d show a trolling set-up that I’ve been using successfully on my boat lately, so here are two photos. The herring dodger is a medium size, 6 inches long with a 14 to 15 inch lead behind it with a spin-n-glow spinner with a skirt and a couple of glow beads. All of the pieces needed to tie these are available at Northwoods Trading Post (Freeman Firearms) in Hancock.

Today, we fished with phone company man, Shawn, his IT Computer college boy, Justin and high schooler, Jessica. Also, repeat clients Engineer dad, John and son Chemical Engineering Student, John Jr.

We used a mixture of a laker taker and the above described set-up. They seemed to do equally well for numbers of fish, but the dodger/spinner combo took in the larger fish as we brought in 8 lake trout all together. We also caught a coho salmon on a FinnAction Lure, pink with a pink prism stripe and nickel plated on the back side.
