Another good day for Lake Trout on the water, but no Coho or Steelhead yet

Wally and I fished with athlete and MTU grad Carl and his OR nurse mom and engineer dad from MN this morning, starting early and back around lunch time. I’m almost falling asleep here typing this at 9:15 pm after so little sleep the past 2 or three nights. (I’ll sleep in tomorrow to catchup)

We had to have Carl get rid of his banana before going out, so he ate it down quickly while we prepared the boat.

It started off slow, since we tried in the shallow water near the irons first, since there was such a strong current going out… nothing biting there, so we went deep for lakers. The first 20 minutes or so were slow, until we tossed some coins overboard to satisfy the “fishing gods.” The idea was br0ught up by client Walt W, when he said that was routine on a different charter that he fished on before. “It seemed to work there”, he said, so maybe it will help to get things started here.

I guess it worked, because we started to catch fish after that. Julie was a good one to have on board… her nurse’s attention to details and focus paid off since she barely took her eyes off the rods… looking and watching them intently for any unusual movement.

Came home with 11 after loosing 3 at the stern just before netting them.

Oh, yes, I almost forgot.. Terry and I fished yesterday morning, exploring for other places to fish and picked up 2 for smoking.
