Jim’s gang after the first day of fishing.

Brian – most appreciation from our entire family of fishers for the fine service and great experience. Max’s 8 pounder was exciting, but so was every smaller fish!  You are a quality guy. Jack ain’t bad, either! Best regards to you and family

fish caught with sand point chartersThank you! We loved our trip – more importantly, the groom loved the trip!

Back in the heat of Texas now, though :(  Missing that cool breeze off the top of Lake Superior.

Bob’s son with a nice Lake Trout. He later caught a small mouth bass in Lac La Belle.

Thanks so much for your time on Friday with my family giving them a great fishing experience.  In my job role I work very closely with our safety department so I was very impressed with your safety orientation and explanation of all the safety features on the boat.

10 fish caught at Stannard Rock, lake superior

Tim and Sharon with their limit of 10 fish for the day from Stannard Rock

Hi Brian! We had such a great time fishing last summer! Tim and I are looking ahead at our schedule and hoping to be able to book another trip with you! Sharon and I had one of the best times we have had for awhile. I shipped 30lbs of lake trout home and though they were frozen everyone had enjoyed some fantastic lake Superior lake trout. We have recommended your service to anyone who has been interested.

Pat and Rob with their catch

Just wanted to let you know I drove back a day early to use my day off to smoke the fish. I used a pickling spice brine overnight, let dry, and smoked at 180 deg. for 7 hours. An old captain in Grand Haven suggested a light brush of maple syrup just before done. The fish was fantastic! I can’t wait to share at work.

fishing picture of dan langford on the boat with sand point chartersWow!  What a way to celebrate my birthday! Couldn’t ask for better weather or a better fishing experience out at Stannard Rock. Not only did I catch the fish of a lifetime with that thirty-pound Laker, but diving off the boat at the lighthouse was the icing on the cake. Your pleasant personality, knowledge of the sport and the surrounding area, and many fish stories all helped to make the trip enjoyable – oh and I don’t want to forget the delicious smoked Lake Trout snack.

“Thanks Brian – for a great day of late September lake trout fishing.  If you ordered the weather it could not have been better. Sunny skies and calm winds made for some comfortable time on the water.  The Fishin’ Mission is a great boat to get out on Superior in and the lake trout were biting pretty good with several over 6 pounds.  Mike was delighted with the catch – for him a first!

If you want an enjoyable fishing trip with a great guy, give Sand Point Charters a call and schedule some time with Captain Brian!  Thanks again from both of us!”

Catching more lake trout in Bete Grise in our favorite places

We got a later start today, casting off at 9 am with 3 good guys from MN that also chartered last summer. I think they are “hooked” on lake trout fishing, since that was what we caught last year and they wanted to go after the same this time. The day was just awesome, flat […]

Lake Trout fishing with hering dodgers and spin and glows plus spoons.

Fished yesterday in Bete Grise with same party as 2 days previous. They had booked 2 trips since they wanted to do a lot of fishing while here in the Copper country. I didn’t get a “total catch” photo with my camera, but we got 10 fish with the largest ones 4 to 4.5 lbs. […]

Evening fishing deep for Lake Trout straight south of Copper Harbor

Sunday evening we left the dock at 4:15 pm and went straight out to deep water to troll for lakers, since we had tried close to the irons in the morning with no success with Wally and Terry. The coho just don’t seem to be here yet. For the evening, I had recovery nurse Doreen, […]

Another good day for Lake Trout on the water, but no Coho or Steelhead yet

Wally and I fished with athlete and MTU grad Carl and his OR nurse mom and engineer dad from MN this morning, starting early and back around lunch time. I’m almost falling asleep here typing this at 9:15 pm after so little sleep the past 2 or three nights. (I’ll sleep in tomorrow to catchup) […]

Fishing for Lake Trout in Bete Grise

Yesterday I took out 3, a dad Art and his 2 teenage boys on Lake Superior for some lake trout fishing. Stannard Rock was on our minds, and we considered it, but I did not have enough fuel in the tanks to comfortably make the trip. Had Calvin along as the first mate and we […]

Trolling slow and shallow in Bete Grise for Lake Trout and Coho Salmon

Friday morning, Calvin and I got up at 6.30 to push off with a party of 5 on the Fishin’ Mission at 8 am. The plan was to set lines near the irons and troll in shallow water for a short time before heading out to the Bear Bluff area. The forecast was calling for […]

Lac La Belle Fishing for Crappie, Pike, Small Mouth Bass and Perch

Yesterday, my boys and I did a little pre-fishing on Lac La Belle and caught a few crappie, several perch and a couple rock bass. Bugs (no-seums) were bad and Bruce, my 6 year old was getting eaten up bad so we went back to the cottage early. Cooked up one of the crappie for […]

Trolling for Lake Trout in Bete Grise and fishing in Lac La Belle

The day after the Stannard Rock trip, Calvin and I fished in Lac La Belle for an hour or so. He caught a rock bass, but not too much happening. Thursday, we fished with the same 3 guys that chartered to Stannard Rock just 2 days before. I thought the fishing was going to be […]

Stannard Rock and other Lake Superior Fishing

I’m a little behind on posts, since it’s been so busy with various things, mostly fun! Spent last weekend with the boys at Schlatters Lake in the remote, “out of cell range Keweenaw Peninsula”, so anyone who tried to call me did not get an answer until I got back on Sunday. Actually came back […]

Trolling Bete Grise for Lake Trout, June 4th

Norm and I got up early on Saturday, at 4:30 am, to head out to Bete Grise. I kwew that there was a fishing tournament going on in Lac La Belle that day, so I wondered if we would be affected by other boaters launching at the same time. We arrived at the launch at […]
